I painted this 4”x5” portrait during my senior yea I painted this 4”x5” portrait during my senior year of college as a thank you to my grandparents because they helped pay for my last year of university (despite support from my parents and a scholarship, I still worked 3 jobs to cover the rest - the burnout was real and the extra help to get across the finish line was immensely appreciated). The day after I graduated my grandpa saw it for the first time, it was the closest I ever saw him come to crying. Since his passing, it has brought comfort to my grandma in her inescapable grief - what this means to me, as a granddaughter and artist living so far away, is hard to put into words. Some things in life are just like that (or maybe, that’s just why I’m a painter, and not a poet haha). This is exactly why I love art, and especially portraiture - it can be a portal in which love transcends time and space, connecting us. 🤍🕊️ #griefislove #griefandhealing #livingabroadlife #griefprocess #storytimes
