I was accepted into my first art exhibition since continuing my formal painting studies, here in Florence, where I exhibited my painting ‘Frutti del Viaggio’ (Fruits of the Journey). The opening was this weekend, and it was quite lovely, I’m so proud of what we, as artists, were able to achieve individually and collectively. 🥹🧡 After attending both Friday and Saturday, I noticed a pattern that I found quite ‘interesting,’ every new person I introduced myself to either assumed I was one of the models OR that I was there to support my husband who many assumed had a painting in it but not ONE person assumed I was one of the artists myself. 😅 It’s ironic, because I struggled with a panic attack prior to both evenings and almost didn’t attend (as someone who is undiagnosed - but we’re all pretty sure - I find these sorts of social occasions more than overwhelming). But despite this, I showed up. I realized how important it is to reclaim space for myself as an artist who identifies as a woman, especially in a context where women historically have been seen as secondary. I’m so thrilled to announce one of my paintings was selected for the upcoming @pneumafoundation exhibition! This is a special moment for me as it’s my first time participating in a public show since moving to Italy and continuing my formal artistic training.
